PEORIA, Ill. – Carle Health Proctor and Carle Health Pekin hospitals will be holding no-cost lung cancer screenings on Saturday (November 8).
Thanks to support from Carle Health Center for Philanthropy, the no-cost screenings will be possible. Visitors can stop by from 8 a.m. to noon at Carle Health Proctor Hospital, 5409 N. Knoxville Avenue, in Peoria or Carle Health Pekin Hospital, 600 S. 13th Street, Pekin.
Carle Health representatives will evaluate the need by asking visitors about lifestyle risk factors, including smoking history, to determine if they qualify for the low-dose CT scan. If individuals qualify, a CT scan will be done. Walk-ins are welcome, but Carle Health is offering pre-screening by phone to review participants’ risk factors and smoking history, which is recommended.
“Lung cancer often goes undetected until symptoms arise and at that point the cancer may be in advanced stages and more difficult to treat. At Carle Health we are dedicated to helping community members understand how screening provides essential early detection of a nodule in the lung and therefore early treatment and better outcomes. Do not delay screening. It could save your life,” Anne Bowman, director, Oncology, Carle Health Methodist Hospital, said.
Call (309) 672-3189 for pre-screening support or come to the free screening clinics on November 8.
