PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley University is making plans to create a new entryway to the campus.
President James Shadid announced the project in an email to the Bradley community on Thursday. It will create a new, defined entryway at Main and University with landscaping, an archway, and new signage.
Shadid tells WMBD’s “The Phil Luciano Show” that it will create a welcoming presence on campus.
“Main St. is like our Michigan Avenue,” Shadid said. “And when prospective students and parents and community people come to Bradley University, they should see a welcoming and beautifully landscaped entry to the university.”
Shadid says the entryway will help identify what Bradley University is, but also could be a catalyst for Main Street to turn it into a vibrant destination point. He says there could be plans for gardens to honor people connected to the university.
Donor funding will cover the costs of the project. Shadid says work could take place after the spring semester ends.
