NORMAL, Ill. – A historic weekend for the Tremont High School girls’ volleyball team ends with a state trophy.
On Saturday, the Turks earned 4th place after falling to Norris City-Omaha-Enfield in the Class 1A 3rd place match at CEFCU Arena in Normal. Tremont was in the consolation match after falling to Cissna Park in the state semifinals.
NCOE took the first set 25-23, with Tremont winning the second set 25-20, but NCOE took the third set 25-17.
Junior Hayden Alwerdt led the team with 12 kills and 40 assists, followed by Sophomore Nora Parsons with 11 kills and 27 assists.
It’s the first volleyball state trophy for Tremont. They finish the season with a record of 23-19 after going on a self-described Cinderella run to the state semifinals.
