PEORIA, Ill. – A third person has pleaded guilty for their role in a foiled Facebook robbery in Peoria last year that left one of the robbers dead.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 20-year-old Tanarius Kingcade pleaded guilty Monday to Armed Robbery as part of a plea deal.
Prosecutors agreed to a maximum prison sentence of 21 years in exchange for the plea deal when Kingcade is sentenced on January 9th, 2026.
The incident took place on January 15th last year, when two individuals traveled to Peoria to buy a vehicle purchased through Facebook Marketplace.
The pair were directed to an alley where several individuals, including Kingcade, attempted to rob them at gunpoint.
One of the purchasers, a legal firearm owner, exchanged gunfire with the robbers. One of the robbers was killed, with the purchaser not charged as it was determined to be self-defense.
20-year-old Jalyn Branscumb and 20-year-old Keshawn Williams both previously pleaded guilty to Armed Robbery. Branscumb was sentenced to 22 years in prison, while Williams will be sentenced November 25th.
Cases against the other two alleged robbers, 28-year-old Sontarrius Williams and 21-year-old Johnathan Williams, are pending.
