PEORIA, Ill. – Faulty electrical equipment appears to be to blame for a fire in Peoria Tuesday morning that caused $25,000 damage and sent one person to the hospital.

Firefighters put out the fire quickly and took clothes and linens outside that were on fire.
Two elderly residents were found inside the home and were rescued by fire crews.
The fire was contained to the one bedroom. A dog and two cats were also rescued from the home. Animal welfare was called in to secure six other cats from the home.
One woman was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center for smoke inhalation, but she was in stable condition on arrival.
