PEORIA, Ill. – An Edelstein man must remain in jail until trial after allegedly sexually abusing a minor.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 27-year-old Taylor Caldwell is charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse for his alleged involvement with a 14-year-old.
Prosecutors say sheriff’s deputies took a report on December 3rd reportedly about a minor having sexual contact with an adult male.
The mother reported that her daughter snuck out of the house earlier in the morning and returned at around 2:00 A.M., with the daughter allegedly saying she was with Caldwell.
Prosecutors say the minor stated that she reportedly met Caldwell through a friend and chatted with him through Instagram, and he allegedly picked her up the night she snuck out and engaged in unlawful sexual contact with her.
Caldwell was arrested on Saturday, and allegedly admitted to deputies to having sexual contact with her and knew she was only 14.
