Garage fire causes $20,000 damage in Peoria

PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters responded to a garage fire in the area of W. Thrush Avenue and N. Broadway in Peoria Wednesday night.

Fire Battalion Chief Josh Martin says when they arrived around 8 p.m., crews found heavy smoke coming from a detached garage. 

Fire Engines 3 and 11 initiated an attack on the fire, putting it out quickly. A search confirmed no one was inside the garage. 

A fire investigator determined the cause of the fire was unintentional. 

Damage is estimated at $20,000. No injuries were reported.
