PEORIA, Ill. – A fourth person had pleaded guilty for their role in a deadly botched Facebook Marketplace robbery last year.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 29-year-old Sontarrius Williams pleaded guilty to Armed Robbery on Monday. Prosecutors agreed to a maximum prison sentence of 28 years as part of a plea deal when Williams is sentenced February 4th.
Two individuals traveled to Peoria on the evening of January 15th, 2024, to buy a vehicle arraigned through Facebook. They were directed to an alley where a group of people, including Williams, attempted to rob them at gunpoint.
One of the purchasers, who possessed a lawfully owned firearm, exchanged gunfire with the robbers, killing one of them. The purchaser was not charged, as it was ruled self-defense.
20-year-old Jalyn Branscumb, 20-year-old Keshawn Williams, 20-year-old Tanarius Kingcade all previously pleaded guilty to Armed Robbery in the case. The case against 21-year-old Johnathan Williams is still pending.
