WASHINGTON, Ill. (25 News) – Washington Mayor Lilija Stevens has chosen a new city administrator.
Jeff Fiegenschuh has been the city manager of Rochelle, in northern Illinois.
The city council will vote Monday night on a three-year contract for Fiegenschuh that would pay him $180,000 a year to run day-to-day operations of the city until 2029,
He announced his resignation earlier this month to the City of Rochelle. During his time there, Fiegenschuh is credited with boosting economic development, strengthening finances, and making organizational improvements.
The contract calls for Fiegenschuh to live in Washington, to receive up to $10,000 in moving expenses, as well as a car for business.
Washington has been without a full-time city administrator since Jim Snider was placed on administrative leave last August. City Engineer Dennis Carr has been serving as interim city administrator.
Washington’s mayor appoints the city administrator with the “advice and consent” of the council.
If approved, Fiegenschuh’s first day on the job would be Jan. 19.
The proposed contract runs until the end of Mayor Stevens’ current term in May 2029.
