PEORIA, Ill. – A federal judge has sentenced a Pekin man to 12 years in prison after he was convicted of being in possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, as well as being in possession of a gun as a felon.
33-year-old Joshua Dunn has been in the custody of U.S. Marshals since his arrest last February. Dunn confessed to the crime in November.
At sentencing, U.S. District Judge Jonathan Hawley reviewed evidence from two search warrants at Dunn’s Pekin home, showing he was in possession of meth, cocaine, and multiple firearms. The items were seized by officers on January 30, 2025.
According to court documents, Dunn committed the crimes while on supervised release for a prior conviction.
Dunn will serve his sentence concurrently with his current term in the Bureau of Prisons.
The Drug Enforcement Administration Springfield Residence Office, Pekin Police Department, Peoria Metropolitan Enforcement Group, and the Illinois State Police investigated the case.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives also participated in the investigation.
