PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria County Sheriff’s Deputy Jack Evans was released from the hospital on Saturday, after being shot on January 31.
Deputy Evans was escorted home by his fellow deputies, Peoria Police and local fire departments.
In a statement on the department’s Facebook page, Sheriff Chris Watkins thanked the community for its support, prayers, messages and encouragement for Deputy Evans and his family.
Watkins says Evans has a long road ahead, but he’s not walking it alone.
The 24-year-old deputy suffered gunshot wounds to both his legs and torso when he was shot on Saturday, January 31 in the area of S. Westmoreland and Marquette in Peoria.
51-year-old Larry Bell, the alleged shooter, was arrested two hours after the shooting and charged with attempted murder.
