PEORIA, Ill. – A judge has ordered a Peoria man to stay in jail after allegedly abusing and injuring his one-month-old son.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 21-year-old Robdeario Moore was also charged with Aggravated Battery at a hearing Monday.
Police responded to a local hospital on January 22nd to alleged child abuse, where the parents allegedly claimed that bruising on the baby’s face was caused by cockroaches and spiders.
But prosecutors say a physician identified healing rib fractures, bleeding in the left eye, and bruising on the forehead and cheek that was determined to be non-accidential trauma.
Another child in the home allegedly told police they witnessed Moore punch the baby while the children’s mother was incarcerated. Moore allegedly denied causing the injuries, but claimed he would sometimes squeeze the baby unintentionally during video games.
Moore was arrested on Friday.
