PEORIA, Ill. – The man accused of shooting and injuring a Peoria County Sheriff’s deputy after a traffic stop has been indicted by a grand jury.
51-year-old Larry Bell was indicted on five felony charges on Tuesday by a Peoria County grand jury.
The charges include Attempt First Degree Murder, Armed Violence, Aggravated Battery, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Repeat Felony Offender, and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine.
Bell is accused of shooting 24-year-old Deputy Jack Evans the evening of January 31st in South Peoria after a foot chase. Bell was found hours later by police in an abandoned building, and arrested.
Evans suffered gunshot wounds to his legs and torso, and was released from the hospital this past Saturday.
