PEORIA, Ill. – The former Peoria High boys’ basketball coach has been released from jail again after allegations of sexual abuse against a student at the school.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 41-year-old Daniel Ruffin was released under conditions after a detention hearing on Friday. Those conditions include GPS monitoring, not contacting the victim, and home confinement.
Ruffin was charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse on Tuesday after a second student came forward with inappropriate conduct allegations.
The second victim, who is now 18 years old but was 17 at the time, alleges that Ruffin engaged in sexual acts with her, with several occurring in his office during school hours.
Prosecutors say the second victim came forward after Ruffin was charged last week with Grooming and Indecent Solicitation of a Child in a separate case involving a 16-year-old female student. Ruffin was also released from police custody after a detention hearing in that case.
