PEORIA, Ill. – One person was critically injured after a barrage of bullets in Peoria’s East Bluff early Friday morning.
Peoria Police says officers responded to the area of Prospect and Frye, just after 12:30 A.M., after about 63 shots were fired within 30 seconds.
Officers found a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a nearby parking lot, and had an ambulance transport him to a local hospital.
Police say preliminary information indicates a gathering had taken place in the area, when an unknown suspect approached the victim and opened fire.
Police say other people at the scene started firing their weapons as well, but they reportedly fled before police arrived.
No suspects have been found at this time.
