PEORIA, Ill. – A North Peoria McDonald’s is temporarily closed after a kitchen fire Sunday night.
Peoria Fire responded to the area of N. Knoxville and W. Wilhelm around 10:18 PM.
Battalion Chief Larry Carter says the fire was caused by overheated grease in a deep fryer.
The building’s sprinkler system activated and contained the flames until crews could put out the rest of the fire.
Employees and customers evacuated before the fire department arrived. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $10,000.
The restaurant will remain closed as repairs are completed.
