PEKIN, Ill. – The Pekin Police Department has issued a statement regarding a squad car crash on Wednesday at the intersection of South 14th Street and Park Avenue.
Police Chief Seth Ranney says two Pekin officers were dispatched to a high-priority call for service.
Responding to the call with their emergency lights and sirens activated, they entered the intersection at 14th Street and Park Avenue.
Another vehicle failed to yield and struck one of the squad cars on the side, causing the police vehicle to roll onto its top. The squad car then came to rest on top of another vehicle at the stoplight.
One person involved in the crash was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, and was treated and released.
All three vehicles involved in the crash were rendered inoperable and were towed from the scene.
Pursuant to departmental policy, Pekin Police requested an outside police agency to investigate the crash. The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department is handling the investigation.

PEKIN, Ill. (25 News) – A police cruiser was involved in a crash on Wednesday at a Pekin intersection.
The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office told 25 News that two Pekin Police vehicles were responding to an emergency around 5 p.m. Wednesday when the crash occurred.
When the police vehicles reached South 14th Street and West Park Avenue, near Pekin Hospital, another car failed to yield, causing a police vehicle to crash into them.
It’s not known if anyone was injured, but officers believe the vehicles were totaled.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash, including the Pekin Police cruiser.
The Police Department is investigating the incident.
