PEORIA, Ill. – A man could be facing more than two decades in prison after pleading guilty to a shooting in South Peoria two years ago.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 45-year-old Aubrae Harper pleaded guilty to Aggravated Battery with a Firearm on Monday. Harper will be sentenced on April 22nd.
As part of a plea deal, prosecutors agreed to a maximum sentence of 25 years, five years below the maximum possible.
The shooting occurred the evening of April 6th, 2024, where prosecutors say Harper approached the victim and demanded money. The victim was then shot three times, in the arm, side of his abdomen, and the rear end.
Prosecutors say two of the bullets are still lodged in his body.
The victim called a family member for a ride to the hospital, where police were alerted to the victim. The victim identified Harper as the shooter days later.
