PEORIA, Ill. – With near record-high temperatures in the mid 70s on Friday, we could see a few showers and thunderstorms develop by afternoon.
25 News First Alert Chief Meteorologist Brian Walder says we can’t rule out strong to severe storms late in the day on Friday.
“The main focus for severe weather chances continues to be tonight (Friday) into early tomorrow (Saturday) morning. At a minimum, some gusty showers and storms will be possible. However, a few of these storms may be strong to severe…at times capable of wind gusts upward of at least 60 miles per hour,” Walder says.
An isolated tornado also can’t be ruled out, Walder says. Storms overnight Friday are expected to pass through after midnight.
