PEORIA, Ill. — Average gas prices in Peoria have increased by 34.4 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.02 on Monday, according to GasBuddy and AAA Illinois.
Peoria’s prices are 115.7 cents per gallon higher than just a month ago and 75.2 cents higher than this time last year.
GasBuddy price reports show the cheapest gas on Sunday was $3.89 a gallon, while the most expensive gas was $4.29 in Peoria.
Illinois’ gas prices range from $3.38 to $5.49, according to GasBuddy. AAA’s state average price of unleaded gas is $4.17, while their national price is $3.95.
Nationally, gas prices are up 24.3 cents in the last week, averaging $3.92 on Monday, according to GasBuddy. That’s up 98.9 cents from a month ago and 84.1 cents higher than a year ago.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, stated that gas prices continued to climb nationwide due to seasonal factors and ongoing supply concerns related to the disruption in the Strait of Hormuz. De Haan added that it appears “increasingly likely” that the national average price of gasoline will reach the $4-per-gallon mark—potentially this week—for the first time since 2022. He noted that diesel prices are also surging and that there are “few signs of stabilization” as global oil prices continue to climb.
