PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Rivermen are set to begin their postseason run this week as they open the President’s Cup Playoffs against the Macon Mayhem.
The first-round matchup will be a best-of-three series. Game one is scheduled for Thursday night in Macon, Georgia. The series then shifts to Peoria, where games two and, if necessary, three will be played at Carver Arena over the weekend.
Peoria enters the playoffs as the top seed after posting the best regular season record in the SPHL. That finish also gives the Rivermen home-ice advantage throughout the postseason.
This marks the first time the Rivermen and Mayhem have faced each other this season. It’s also their first playoff meeting since 2017.
Peoria closed out the regular season with a pair of tight losses but still secured the league’s top spot heading into the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Macon earned its postseason berth after a strong late push and will be looking to carry that momentum into the series.
