The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southern Peoria County in central Illinois...
Tazewell County in central Illinois...
Northern Fulton County in west central Illinois...
Southern Knox County in west central Illinois...
* Until 1015 AM CDT Friday.
* At 407 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Peoria, Pekin, Galesburg, East Peoria, Morton, Canton, Washington,
Bartonville, Creve Coeur, West Peoria, Abingdon, Knoxville,
Marquette Heights, Farmington, Tremont, Elmwood, Bellevue,
Mackinaw, Delavan and Cuba.
This includes the following State Parks...
Banner Marsh State Fish and Wildlife Area, Powerton Lake State Fish
and Wildlife Area, Rice Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area, Spring
Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area and Mackinaw River State Fish and
Wildlife Area.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 74 between mile markers 48 and 70...and
between mile markers 73 and 108.
Interstate 155 between mile markers 12 and 31.
Interstate 474 between mile markers 0 and 14.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
