PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man could face up to life in prison now that a federal jury has convicted him of drug and weapons offenses.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Harold McGhee, 48 was convicted Thursday of eight felony drug and weapons possession charges.
He’ll be sentenced in Peoria March 15, 2023.
Prosecutors say Police searched McGhee’s home near LaSalle and Indiana in February, 2022 and found drug-related equipment, almost 200 grams of crask cocaine, more powder cocaine, more than 400 grams of heroin, fentayl, almost $7,000 in cash, and a handgun reported stolen in Indiana that he accepted as payment for heroin.
McGhee faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison.
The charges McGhee was convicted of:
- Count 1: Possession with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or More of Methamphetamine
- Count 2: Possession with Intent to Distribute 28 Grams or More of a Mixture or Substance Containing Cocaine Base
- Count 3: Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine
- Count 4: Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin
- Count 5: Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl
- Count 6: Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking
- Count 7: Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Count 8: Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking
