UPDATED 5:10 p.m.
PRINCEVILLE, Ill. – “A well-coordinated multi-jurisdictional response from all parties involved.”
That’s how the Peoria Fire Department sums up their involvement in a hazardous materials situation in Princeville Thursday near village hall and the city’s water plant.
Peoria was the mutual-aid agency called in to help Akron-Princeville contain what was believed to be a leak in a chlorine cylinder around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
Crews, likely using Haz-Mat suits donated since the BioUrja explosion, were able to stop the leak successfully. It’s not yet determined what caused the leak.
One person was taken to the hospital with an unknown medical problem prior to Peoria Fire’s arrival.
