Pekin police entered and searched a business where a man had reportedly barricaded himself and found he was not in the building.
Public Information Officer Billie Ingles said officers responded to the 1000 block of Derby Street at 1:01 p.m. Friday on a domestic call. It was a reported a man had entered the business and was in a domestic situation with a woman inside. Ingles said the man refused to leave and “threatened in some manner with a weapon.”
“The employees left the building and he was still in there,” Ingles said. “The building was searched and he was not in there.”
Ingles said she believes there is no danger to the public.
“This was a domestic situation between a man and a woman and the public has nothing to be alarmed about,” Ingles said.
All parties involved were not injured.
Ingles said it’s believed officers know the suspect’s identity.
