PEORIA, Ill. – A house in South Peoria sustained major damage Wednesday morning after a fire that investigators initially believe is arson.
The fire was reported at around 7:15 A.M. in the area of S. Greenlawn and W. Ann Streets.
Firefighters in route to the fire reported heavy black smoke seen from a distance. The first crews on scene saw fire from the 1st floor of the one and a half story house.
The fire was under control after around 45 minutes. Crews remained on scene putting out hot spots after for more than an hour.
There was no one inside the house at the time of the fire. No injuries to firefighters were reported.
Damage is estimated at around $60,000.
