PEORIA, Ill. — 327 people throughout Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties between Monday and Tuesday became active COVID-19 cases.
158 of the new active cases were in Peoria. 129 of them were in Tazewell, while 40 were in Woodford.
Four more people died of COVID complications.
In Tazewell County, a woman in her 70s died after contracting the virus at an event held outside the county.
A Woodford County man in his 80s died. He had comorbidities and lived at Heritage Health in Eureka.
Peoria County experienced two deaths of males. One was in his 70s, while the other was in his 90s.
Both lived at Heritage Health in Chillicothe.
119 people as of Tuesday afternoon were in area hospitals with the virus or with suspected cases of it. 32 of those patients were in intensive care.
Region Two’s rolling seven-day positivity rate was up to 14%. This was the 12th day in a row the region was above the 8% mark it must meet to avoid stricter mitigation measures.
If a region is above 8% for 14 consecutive days or more, the Illinois Department of Public Health has the option of implementing those measures.
The recovery rate for the tri-county went down to 72.96%.
