PEORIA, Ill. – Two teenagers are in trouble with the law after Peoria Police say one of them had a machine gun in his possession.
Police say a vehicle they had been looking for in regard to another investigation was spotted Wednesday night, and stopped when it parked just after 6:30 p.m. at a local business after violating traffic law.
Police say one 17-year-old fled on foot and was arrested near Brighton and Big Hollow, while another was arrested quickly.
A search of the car allegedly turned up a fully automatic handgun with an extended magazine.
One of the teens was arrested on traffic charges and released, while another was arrested and jailed on a warrant for a suspected carjacking, along with counts of Possession of a Machine Gun, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Resisting Police.
