EAST PEORIA, Ill. — East Peoria’s annual Festival of Lights kicked off on Saturday night with the annual Parade of Lights.
30 floats drove by a substantial crowd of onlookers, brightening the streets with their lights.
The Festival of Lights has been an East Peoria tradition for 36 years, and even the coronavirus could not stop it.
“It’s a two-and-a-half mile route, so there’s plenty of room for everybody to space out and have something bright and something to look forward to,” said Mayor John Kahl.
“I mean, there’s not a lot of bright stuff out there, and that is certainly one of them.”
The Festival of Lights can be seen at Folepi’s Winter Wonderland in East Peoria from Thanksgiving night until January 3.
