PEORIA, Ill. — Fire crews were called to a home on Peoria’s south side Wednesday night on reports of a fire.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Tom Stimeling says two people were home when fire broke out just before 9:30 p.m. on W. Malone Avenue, near S. Ligonier. The fire was brought under control in a matter of minutes.
One of the residents was found in the basement sleeping. A dog and a cat also got out unharmed.
A Fire Investigator says it appears the fire was intentionally set.
The Red Cross was called in to assist the residents with temporary housing.
Damage is estimated $25,000.
