UnityPoint Health has announced Magnet recognition for Methodist and Proctor by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
The Magnet Recognition Program is the highest national honor for professional nursing practice.
It is the fourth such recognition for Methodist Medical Center and the first for Proctor Hospital.
“Magnet excellence is about nursing,” said Jeanine Spain, Chief Operating Officer for UnityPoint Health-Central Illinois. “It’s nursing’s commitment to quality and safety and providing the best care possible at the bedside.”
The ANCC’s evaluation process covers aspects in nurse practices, research and measuring patient outcomes. The process includes patient care documentation and on-site visits.
“This really does confirm just what I’ve always known. Nursing excellence exists in our hospitals,” Spain said.
“Our nurses are champions of excellence who show our patients how much they matter through compassionate outstanding care,” said Dr. Keith Knepp, Regional CEO for UnityPoint Health-Central Illinois. “I’m excited and proud of their global recognition in nursing quality.”
