Three-time NBA champion Shaun Livingston took time from his annual basketball camp in Peoria for a special appearance.
Livingston, a Peoria High grad, visited patients at OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois Friday.
“Obviously the work the Children’s Hospital has been doing over the years is special and this means a lot,” Livingston said. “to see the look on their faces when you walk in the door not knowing what they go through on a day-to-day basis. So just to be able to share those experiences with them means a lot.”
Livingston said the visit adds a nice balance to his life.
“Whether it’s basketball or just the day-to-day life pressures, you realize there’s more to it. There’s more to just start your job or your work, right? Getting up each day enjoying our health, the little things like that you sometimes take for granted,” Livingston said. “So this is a good balance just to come back and share experiences with the kids that are maybe going through tough times.”
Livingston said just sharing five minutes with someone may change their life, their mentality and their mindset.
