(25 News)–One of the sponsors behind Peoria’s ‘Free Little Libraries’ says they might change how they’re made after one near the Peoria Carver Center may have been vandalized over the weekend.
Stacy Hardin says the little library was knocked off its post sometime on Saturday.
The little libraries offer free books to keep kids reading all year round.
The creators say they’ve seen them vandalized before.
“Whenever I think of having to take it down it makes me very sad because I know that it gets used there. So, my thing is, we just have to find a way to make a better box to withstand anything that happens down there,” said Hardin.
The original little libraries were built by students at Woodruff Technical Center.
The Carver Center will get a new one made of plate steel to withstand weather and vandals.
