At-large Peoria City Council member Zach Oyler is in custody in the Peoria County Jail.
The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office reports Oyler was booked at 11:21 p.m. Tuesday on charges of aggravated domestic battery, interfering with a report of domestic violence and unlawful restraint.
In a release from the Peoria Police Department, Chief Loren Marion says officers were called to a residence in the 3000 block of N. Bigelow in reference to trouble with a male.
When officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult male and adult female. The male was identified as Zach Oyler.
An initial investigation revealed that the female victim alleged that a domestic battery had occurred. Mr. Oyler was subsequently arrested.
Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell confirms Oyler is being held without bond. A hearing is scheduled in Peoria County court at 2 p.m. Wednesday, however the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office historically has 48 hours to conduct a hearing and historically domestic related charges wait until day two for a first appearance.
