UnityPoint Health announces a new local officer.
Jeanine Spain, RN-C, MHA has been named Chief Operating Officer of UnityPoint Health-Central Illinois.

This is an exciting time for UnityPoint Health and I’m honored to help lead this organization dedicated to improving the lives of the people and communities we serve,” Spain says.
Spain began her healthcare career in 1976 with Methodist Medical Center as an registered nurse in the hospital’s medical intensive care unit. Her first leadership and administrative roles came in 1982 as the MICU Assistant Clinical Coordinator. Spain rose throughout the years into her first senior leadership role as Vice President of Cardiovascular Services in 2006. She is a Wharton Fellow Nurse Executive, and is a member of professional organizations including the American Organization of Nurse Executives, Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders, and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Currently, Spain serves as Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Pekin Hospital administrator. She also oversees nursing practices and policies for all three regional hospital campuses. Her new role as Chief Operating Officer will expand her responsibilities and focus in clinical quality, financial outcomes, and service growth.

Spain lives in Peoria. She received her nursing degree from Chamberlain College of Nursing and her Master’s in Health Administration from the University of St. Francis. Spain is a board member of Methodist College, Peoria Hospital Mobile Medical Service, and the Downtown Development Committee.
