PEORIA, Ill. – The victim in the city’s eighth homicide of the year has been identified.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says an autopsy on Rick Ransom, 30, indicates he suffered a number of gunshot wounds on the upper half of his body and likely died instantly.
A ShotSpotter alert of five rounds being fired was reported around 8:45 Monday night near Gale and Underhill in the West Bluff.
Ransom was one of two people shot at; the other victim had non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not yet released any information on suspects, and want you to contact them if you saw anything.

PEORIA, Ill. — Two people were shot Monday night in Peoria, and one of them is dead.
Peoria Police Spokesperson Semone Roth says the shooting happened around 8:45 p.m.
Officers were called to the area of N. Gale and W. Groveland Avenues on a ShotSpotter alert indicating five rounds were fired.
PPD found a woman who was shot with non-life-threatening injuries. A man, who was also shot, had critical injuries and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Police have no suspects at this time.
This appears to be Peoria’s 8th homicide of the year.
