PEORIA, Ill. – It was a 15-year-old boy who became Peoria’s 9th homicide victim of the year over the weekend.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Emarion Carpenter of Peoria died of a single gunshot wound to the chest, based on an autopsy performed.
Carpenter and another juvenile were shot at during a series of three ShotSpotter alerts around 12:30 Sunday morning – all in the general vicinity of McBean and Merriman, with a total of over two dozen rounds being fired.
Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other juvenile was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening hand injury.
Still no word from Police on suspects or arrests.
