Judge Jodi Hoos has been named Peoria County State’s Attorney.
The Peoria County Board approved her appointment unanimously 15-0 at a special meeting Tuesday night.
Hoos becomes Peoria County’s first female state’s attorney.
Peoria County Board Chairman Andrew Rand announced Monday morning Hoos’ nomination to succeed Jerry Brady, who passed away in June.
The other candidate interviewed for the position was Peoria native Christopher McCall.
Hoos will fill out the remainder of Brady’s term. The office will be up for election again in 2020.
McCall says he plans to run for the State’s Attorney office against Hoos in 2020.
