MACKINAW, Ill. – We’re learning more from authorities about an accident in Mackinaw Friday night that resulted in the cancellation of the final day of the city’s Mack-A-Fest.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Adrian Taylor-Zehr, 9, was pronounced dead at a Peoria hospital about an hour after the 9:02 p.m. accident on North Main Street.
Mackinaw Police Chief Michael Kemp says police, fire, and EMA responded to what turned out to be a car-versus-pedestrian accident.
No other details about the accident were released, except that an Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit was called in to aid in the investigation.
Harwood, meanwhile, says Taylor-Zehr’s multiple blunt-force trauma injuries were “unsurvivable and irreversible.”
Anyone who might have seen the accident is asked to call Mackinaw Police at (309) 359-8914.
