CHICAGO — Police say three law enforcement officers were shot and wounded while driving onto Interstate 57 Wednesday morning on Chicago’s South Side.
The shooting was reported about 6 a.m. in the Morgan Park neighborhood, not far from a police station.
Chicago Police Department Superintendent David Brown said none of the officer’s injuries were life-threatening.
“They’re all in stable condition, being treated. The officers were fired upon from the street, toward the on ramp, while they were in their car,” Brown said.
The shootings came a day after police reported that 100 people were shot in Chicago — including two police officers who were wounded while trying to break up a disturbance — over the Fourth of July weekend.
