UPDATED 5:15 P.M.
PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters now say both homes have to be demolished after a fire in a vacant home spread to the other home.
Fire crews responded to the first blaze near Starr and Arago around noon Friday.
That blaze was deemed to be an arson, in part, because the home was unoccupied.
Officials say the heat from that fire caused the second home to end up on fire.
Both homes have to be demolished, and the fire caused an estimated $130,000 in damage.
Two firefighters had to be taken to the hospital due to to heat exhaustion, but are expected to be okay.
