PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters responded to a residential fire Thursday night in Peoria that investigators say was arson.
Fire broke out in the area of N. North Street and W. Nebraska around 6:45 p.m.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Calhoun says smoke and flames were seen coming from the second floor when crews arrived. They found fire on the first floor extending to the second floor and the attic.
No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, as it was reported to be vacant.
Once the fire was out, crews stayed on the scene putting out hot spots.
A building inspector called for an emergency demolition, due to extensive structural damage to the home.
