PEORIA, Ill. – Police are investigating a shooting on Peoria’s south side Tuesday night.
Around 10:45 p.m., officers were called to the area of Widenham and W. Smith on a ShotSpotter alert, indicating one shot was fired.
Peoria Police then got a call that a victim was at a home on W. Smith.
Officers found a juvenile male who’d been shot. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Peoria Police Spokesperson Semone Roth says the department’s criminal investigations team, crime scene unit, SWAT team and patrol units were all called in.
Information at the scene led officers to believe a suspect was inside the home.
SWAT team members used a robot to look inside the home before they went in, finding no one inside.
Police have no suspects at this time.

Peoria Police Spokesperson Semone Roth tells WMBD News that it was rumored a suspect was hiding in the basement of the home where the shooting happened, but that was never confirmed.
Roth says when PPD entered the home overnight, no one was inside.
