CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Drought conditions in central Illinois are holding steady.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor report shows levels stayed the same week-to-week in Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties.
Abnormally dry conditions are still present in 39.27% of the southwestern portion of Peoria County, and 79.26% of central and southern Tazewell County.
All of Woodford County continues to be drought-free.
Nearby counties are still experiencing some form of drought. Around 41% of Marshall County in the northern half is still abnormally dry. All of Fulton County is at least abnormally dry, with 7.25% of the southern portion experiencing moderate drought conditions.
Conditions in Illinois are seeing improvement, with a week-to-week increase in drought-free areas of the state. Only 57.24% of Illinois is experiencing some drought, down from 71.52% the week prior.
The worst drought conditions in Illinois are still in the west-central and northern portions of the state.
