PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – Peoria Police are investigating a shooting that injured a man near Martin Luther King Jr. Park on the city’s south side.
Police responded about 11 p.m. to W. Hurlburt Street after a ShotSpotter alert indicated 13 rounds were fired there.
Peoria Police Spokesperson Semone Roth said officers found a man with an apparent gunshot wound, but his injuries were not life-threatening. He was taken to a local hospital.
There is no suspect information for now, according to Roth.
Police blocked off the intersection of South McArthur Highway and West Hurlburt to conduct the investigation, according to an Emergency Communications Center email sent to the news media at 11:19 p.m.
