Peoria Firefighter/Paramedics were called to a home at 5027 North Edgebrook Drive just after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
When crews arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and flames at the bottom of the home’s basement stairs.
The fire was knocked down within 10 minutes and contained to one room.
No one was in the home, but two reptiles died the fire.
The cause is under investigation.
