PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man is going to federal prison for a few years after pleading guilty to felony gun charges.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Dazmine Erving, 32, was handed a sentence of about five-and-a-half years in prison Wednesday for Possession of a Firearm as a Felon.
Erving was arrested almost one year ago, after Peoria Police noticed a vehicle backing into a spot at Riverfront Park after the park had closed.
After officers smelled burnt cannabis in the vehicle, a semiautomatic pistol reported stolen with a round of ammunition loaded in the chamber, and more in the magazine, was discovered.
Erving actually got 41 months in prison for the gun charge, but was given another two years for violating the terms of his supervised release on other charges.
