PEORIA, Ill. – A Chillicothe man described by prosecutors and a federal judge as “one of the biggest” methamphetamine dealers in the area will be going to prison for the next 20 years.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 44-year-old Jayson McNulty was given that sentence after pleading guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, and Possession of Meth with Intent to Deliver.
Prosecutors say McNulty trafficked more than 4.5 kilograms of ice meth between April of 2018 and December of 2019. A package of meth sent to McNulty through the mail and seized by federal agents contained over a pound of ice meth.
“This sentence serves as an excellent example of collaboration between federal, state, and local law enforcement to jointly combat the heightened threat of high-purity methamphetamine in our communities,” Douglas Quivey, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Central District of Illinois, said in a news release.
McNulty will have to serve ten years on parole once he’s released from prison.
