PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria firefighters responded just before 1 a.m. Thursday to the 2800 block of SW Jefferson on reports of a residential fire.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire showing at the back of the home and fire venting from the windows with another home being exposed to fire on one side.
Firefighters had the blaze under control within a few minutes.
A search of the home in heavy smoke found no one inside.
Battalion Chief Scott Strum said the fire was contained to the first floor, the second floor suffered significant smoke and heat damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
Damage is estimated at $75,000.
