PEORIA, Ill. — A top infectious disease specialist in Peoria offers assurances about the evolution of COVID-19 variants.
Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Doug Kasper with the University of Illinois College of Medicine tells “The Greg and Dan Show” as a virus evolves over time, it can often get weaker.
“Some of those changes will actually de-stabilize the virus”, he said.
At the same time, Dr. Kasper says that doesn’t mean people should shrug off vaccines. He insists mass vaccination is the only way to quickly transition out of the current pandemic and into a more traditional way of living.
He says public health officials remain very concerned about low vaccination rates in foreign countries and the impact that could have here in the U.S.
